Hello March!

Washington Parent is thrilled this month to have on our cover one of our favorite local moms, Deborah Porter, and share with you how she's working to make workplaces in the DMV more family friendly. She was Coach Deborah to us and to our readers several years ago with a monthly column as well as articles for Washington Parent that offered practical advice for parents while keeping it real about embracing our imperfect parenting. Read our article in this issue about this inspiring and inspired local thought leader!

Continuing a favorite theme of Deborah's (and mine), which is taking it easier on ourselves as parents (especially busting the myth of the Super Mom), we've got Drs. Emma Basch and Jillian Neill's article on Parenting in the Age of Instagram: How to Silence the Noise and Feel More Easeful. These local mental health experts recommend not drowning yourself in social media advice chatter, clarifying your goals and trusting your own instincts more.

As you continue the search for the right camp for your kids, Washington Parent is here to help with our Camps & Summer Programs Guide plus articles on the best strategy when sending siblings to camp, and how you can ensure your anxious kid still enjoys camp.

We continue last month's popular article with How to Talk to Your Neurodiverse Kids About Their Diagnosis PART 2.

For spring break and beyond, we've got an article on traveling with kids with food restrictions and, if spring break is a staycation this year, how to make it fun while keeping it frugal.

If you've got young kids, or even just remember the days when your kids were younger and you had to scramble every time they lost a baby tooth, you'll enjoy the humorous and helpful essay, 10 Reasons Why the Tooth Fairy Did Not Come Last Night.

Need some help preparing to talk with your tween daughter about her period? We've got tips for talking with her, but don't forget about your son(s) – boys should know what it's all about, too. Silence makes for stigma!

Here's hoping your March is a merry (and mild) one!
