Rockville Science Center

Rockville Science Center offers hands-on STEM learning through classes, six-week class series, teams, workshops and camps. Topics vary and can include engineering, coding, programming, 3D printing and other science and technology subjects. Financial assistance is available for eligible families.

UP Robotics

UP Robotics offers weekly robotics classes and competitive teams for students at different grade and experience levels. Robot Explorers, for grades 1-3, introduces children to building and beginner coding and costs $185 every four weeks. Intro to Robotics, for grades 3-6, costs $255 every four weeks and gives students more time for engineering and programming projects. The FLL Challenge Class, for grades 3-8, costs $275 every four weeks and introduces competition-style robotics without requiring students to join a tournament team.

Students ready for competition can also explore FIRST LEGO League, VEX IQ and FIRST Tech Challenge teams.

KID Museum

KID Museum's after-school programs give students in kindergarten through eighth grade opportunities to explore coding, engineering, design and other maker skills through hands-on projects.

For fall 2026, Session 1 runs Tuesdays from Sept. 8-Oct. 20, with no class Oct. 13. Session 2 runs Tuesdays from Oct. 27-Dec. 15, with no classes Nov. 3 or Nov. 24. Each six-week session costs $315 for members and $345 for nonmembers. KID Museum also offers free and reduced-cost participation for families facing financial barriers.
